HFCA’s Core Values are guiding principles that influence behaviors, decisions, and actions. Serving as a moral compass, these transferable values shape the image we aim for our students and staff to personify. This is how we work, play, and share the faith!
Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, the workplace, or the fields and courts, at HFCA, we are:
Humble, Focused, Courageous Achievers!
HUMILITY acknowledges an accurate perception of oneself, while also recognizing the worth and talents of others. Possessing humility leads to being coachable, acknowledging mistakes and being open to feedback, asking for help when needed and sharing gifts with others, showing compassion and respect for others, and having a balanced view of yourself, neither overestimating or devaluing your abilities or worth. Humility also allows one to realize that all gifts and talents are from the Lord (Proverbs 22:4; Philippians 2:1-11).
FOCUS allows for a clear understanding of goals and objectives and being fully present and engaged, while avoiding frivolous distractions. Individuals can choose what they pay attention to, while filtering out disruptions set to take them off course. Having focus allows you to meet goals and achieve desired outcomes in a timely manner and is a necessary attribute across many platforms. Focus may also call for forgetting what is behind and pressing forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13-14).
COURAGE is the strength to face challenges, fears, and uncertainties through making good decisions in alignment with one’s beliefs. It is doing what is right with grit and tenacity even when uncomfortable or unpopular. Courage is not backing down to any giant, either concrete or theoretical, knowing that God is in full control. With courage, you can acknowledge your fear but step out on faith and exhibit resilience through any difficulty. The Bible instructs us to be strong and courageous, knowing that God gives us power (Joshua 1:9; 2 Timothy 1:7).
ACHIEVEMENT is being aware of the gifts and talents the Lord has uniquely instilled in each of us and striving to cultivate them. Derived from ambition and manifested through success, everyone in HFCA’s school community is challenged to show great achievement in their endeavors. This requires a strong work ethic, commitment to excellence, and a consistent pursuit of goals. Achievement is the concrete result of your efforts both inside AND outside of the classroom (Matthew 25:14-30; 1 Corinthians 12).
