Founded on the premise of learning by doing, the HFCA educational philosophy is a 3-tiered approach that allows students to explore career options, prepare for those careers, and use the acquired skills to step out and make a positive impact on the community and beyond.
Early Middle School years are designed for students to explore as many career pathways that interest them, or that parents or teachers identify to align to the student’s strengths, proclivities, or personality. Students will enroll in career exploration courses and will engage in bi-weekly workshops to expose them to a plethora of opportunities.
Late Middle School and early High School years are designed to hone in on three career pathways of specific interest and overall alignment. Students will have the opportunity to shadow professionals, engage with mentors, and learn intricacies of the industry to make a more educated decision for Senior Project.
Junior and Senior years of High School will include field internships where students gain work experience and deepen their knowledge within their chosen industry. Seniors will be tasked with identifying an existing problem in their chosen field and conducting research to offer recommendations for solutions. This will be presented to community partners.
